Marsh Foxtail photographed in my studio using a combination of focus stacking and stitching to create a very high resolution image
Finding this shrub in a woodland just before spring starts is a fantastic experience.. You can see the colour fom some way away but as you walk near, the sweet smell hits you.
A single flower, though you can see the spur of the one above dangling down half filled with nectar. Any insect wanting a drink of the sugary food needs a very long proboscis; usually a moth.
Pink flowers everywhere
Not exactly the biggest tree around but on a windy mountain top an inch is plenty high enough.
A field of poppies just before the sun rose, probably the only time that the wind is still enough for a photo.
An old arable weed which would poison bread but nevertheless is beautiful, shame it’s so rare.
I found a bramble leaf in the garden with these two vacated mines of a micro moth Stigmella aurella though it looks more like a much rarer moth that doesn’t occur around here. The adult moth is 2mm across

This one is tiny, it took a little finding but eventually I found the 2mm high plant. I thought I’d show the wider scene as well it is a scrape dug out to remove the grass and expose the copper rich soil underneath for the moss to gain a foothold. This is one of only two places in the world where this moss occurs, both in Cornwall.
